FAQ

We start at a low, clinically appropriate dose to allow your body to adapt and to minimise side effects. Dose increases are made gradually, usually at intervals of no less than 4 weeks, and only if the current dose is well tolerated and clinically justified.

Adjustments are based on:

  • How well you tolerate the medication

  • Appetite control and weight response

  • Side effects (if any)

  • Your medical history and concurrent conditions

If side effects occur, we may pause, maintain, or step back to a lower dose rather than pushing ahead. The goal is sustainable progress, not rapid escalation.

There is no obligation to reach the maximum dose — many people achieve excellent results at lower or moderate doses.

Throughout treatment, you are reviewed regularly so that dosing remains safe, appropriate, and aligned with your long-term health, not just the number on the scale.

It depends — and this is something we discuss openly from the start.

These medications work by regulating appetite, satiety, and food intake. If treatment is stopped suddenly without sustainable lifestyle changes in place, some weight regain is possible — particularly in the first few months.

That’s why we focus on:

  • Building realistic eating patterns you can maintain

  • Preserving muscle mass through adequate protein and strength-based activity

  • Supporting habits around sleep, stress, and daily movement

For some people, the medication is a time-limited tool to help reset behaviours. For others, longer-term treatment may be appropriate and medically justified. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Our aim is not short-term weight loss, but long-term metabolic health — so if and when treatment is reduced or stopped, it’s done thoughtfully and gradually, with support in place to help maintain results.

The changes that make the biggest difference are:

  • Protein-first eating
Prioritising protein at meals helps preserve muscle, improves satiety, and supports metabolic health during weight loss.

  • Strength-based movement
Even 2–3 short sessions per week helps protect muscle mass, maintain metabolic rate, and improve long-term weight maintenance.

  • Daily low-intensity movement
Walking, gentle cycling, or simply moving more during the day often matters more than intense workouts.

  • Sleep and stress regulation
Poor sleep and chronic stress raise hunger signals and reduce the medication’s effectiveness.

  • Consistency, not perfection
Regular routines beat extremes. The aim is a rhythm you can sustain — not a temporary overhaul.

We support you in using the medication as a tool, not a crutch — helping you develop habits that continue to serve your health whether you remain on treatment or not.

Before starting treatment, every patient undergoes a clinical assessment to ensure the medication is safe and appropriate for them.

This includes a review of:

  • Medical history and current medications

  • Weight, BMI, and relevant health factors

  • Previous experience with weight-loss treatments

To support safe prescribing, we strongly recommend baseline blood tests, which provide a clearer picture of your metabolic and organ health before treatment begins.

Our GLP-1 Pre-Treatment Blood Test (£179) typically includes key markers such as:

  • Liver and kidney function

  • Blood glucose control

  • Lipid profile

  • Thyroid function (where clinically indicated)

These results help us:

  • Identify any underlying issues that may affect treatment choice or dosing

  • Establish a baseline for future comparison

  • Monitor safety and support long-term health, not just weight loss

Blood testing is not mandatory for everyone, but in many cases it allows for a more informed, personalised, and safer treatment plan.
