Unable to book online? No problem. If you’re eligible for the NHS MenB vaccination and are starting university or residential further education for the first time in Autumn 2026, simply use our Walk-in MenB Vaccination Service – no appointment is needed. The vaccination itself takes around one minute. Just bring your NHS number and proof of your university place (such as your offer or confirmation email). Protect yourself before university
Redwood Pharmacy is pleased to offer the new NHS Meningitis B (MenB) Vaccination Service for eligible young people starting university or further education in Autumn 2026.
Meningitis B is a serious bacterial infection that can develop rapidly and may be life-threatening. Young people moving into university halls or shared accommodation are at increased risk due to close contact with large numbers of new people.
The NHS MenB vaccination programme aims to provide additional protection to those most at risk and is scheduled to start on 20th July 2026.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for a free NHS MenB vaccination if you are:
- A current Year 13 student (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008); or
- An undergraduate student under 25 years of age starting university for the first time in Autumn 2026; or
- Starting further education for the first time in Autumn 2026 and moving into halls of residence or residential accommodation.
Eligible international students and students from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Crown Dependencies attending educational institutions in England may also receive the vaccine.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring:
- Proof of your date of birth (passport, driving licence or other photo ID);
- Evidence of your university or college offer (for example UCAS confirmation, offer letter or email confirmation);
- Details of any previous MenB vaccinations, if known.
Our pharmacy team will check your eligibility before vaccination.
How many doses will I need?
The MenB vaccination course consists of two doses.
The second dose is given at least 28 days after the first dose.
If required, our team will arrange your follow-up appointment when you attend for your first vaccination.
Have you had MenB vaccine before?
If you have completed a full MenB vaccination course within the last five years, you may not require additional vaccination.
Please discuss your previous vaccination history with our pharmacist.
What happens during the appointment?
Your appointment will include:
- A review of your eligibility;
- A brief health assessment;
- An opportunity to ask questions;
- Administration of the vaccine into the upper arm;
- Advice regarding possible side effects and aftercare.
Appointments usually take approximately 5 minutes.
